Am. Lit.--for those not in school today, we did a Socratic Seminar after allowing for more time on the "Why I Went to the Woods," and the "Battle of the Ants" questions--in packet. We then did a Socratic Seminar. While it is hard for you to make up a Socratic Seminar, you can respond to the essential question to earn credit. I am attaching the question here. Please try to write as much as you can about it to earn some credit. Homework continues to be working on Nature Books, which are due TUESDAY, OCT. 27th. Looking forward to receiving those books next week! Lit. Comp. 1--Finish Act 2 of A Midsummer Night's Dream and study guide for Monday, 10/26.
Am. Lit.-- as I will be away from school on Tuesday due to the District golf tournament and on Wednesday, due to a conference in Natick, please contact me with any questions or concerns via email. Thank you. 1. Keep working on Nature Books, which are due next Monday. You will have Tuesday and Wednesday in our library to do some work, so plan accordingly. (rubric/assignment description is now attached). 2. Read selections from Walden and Self-Reliance. Here are the correct page #s for our new edition (although true followers of Thoreau could have found them on his/her own!)

Honors students should continue reading The Pearl and complete the accompanying study guide. The in-class test on The Pearl will be next Tuesday, 10/27. All others should be reading/re-reading assigned sections of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Be ready to read parts starting on Wednesday. Work on the accompanying study guide for Acts 1 and 2 as we go (not all at once at the end!). Good luck. Lit. Comp. 1: maybe a bit more review of Of Mice and Men as we will continue the test tomorrow. Honors: keep working on your independent reading of The Pearl.
Am. Lit.: Continue reading The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail. Finish Act 1 (along with questions), and continue reading into Act 2--stop at the top of page 79. Continue thinking and working on Nature Books as well. Nature Books will be due Monday, 10/26. Am. Lit.--Finish reading Act 1 of The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail. Work on reading guide questions.
